The Marian Art Gallery, located on the first floor of Mount Mary College’s Caroline Hall is currently hosting “Books Unbound.” Including artists from Milwaukee, Madison and the Chicago area, the “Books Unbound” exhibit features works by The Binders Guild, a group of regional artisans who meet regularly to explore and create unbound art works in a variety of media.

According to the gallery’s website, “This exhibit, created by a group of regional artisans, gives shape, texture, medium and creative edges to the unbound structure of books.”

Works on display will feature a variety of mediums, including works which highlight techniques often used in book making. Other pieces include doorways cut into books.

Some of the pieces will be available for purchase. Sample images are located on the Marian Art Gallery website.

The “Books Unbound” exhibit is presented by Nancy Lohmiller, Mount Mary College Graphic Design Department Chair and the Binders Guild.

The exhibit will be on display at the Marian Art Gallery through November 27, 2010. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
